The staff of a high school newspaper receives an advertisement for an LGBT bookstore. They want to publish the ad, but their faculty advisor forbids it. The editor believes that the advisor’s decision constitutes censorship. With the help of her editorial staff, the bookstore owner, and a Washington Post reporter, the editor fights for the students’ rights to a free press. Using non-linear storytelling and offering intimate insights into the journalistic process, PRESS tells the true story of my fight for freedom of the press as a high school journalist. One act. Suitable for high school, college and older actors and audiences.
